The world’s #1 premium gin label Bombay Sapphire is a brand whose DNA is built around the key concept, ‘stir creativity.’ It’s a concept that expresses the company’s desire to connect with artists and creators, making the world a more exciting and inspiring place.
The company wanted to communicate its identity – to its Japanese audience – as a brand that inspires, encourages, and supports artists and creators and takes this identity to the digital realm.
IDEA
Often in Japan, especially, when people hear the words “artist” or “creator,” the key roles are clear and rigid, which is the antithesis of creativity. Y+L Projects and Bombay wanted to challenge this notion. An artist is not just a painter or a musician, a creator, not just a craftsman. Together, we built a content series challenging, expanding, and showcasing the diverse community of Japan’s creators.
RESULT
The outcome was a fully developed content series and online platform that both tells the story of some of the nation’s most innovative and exciting new creators. The Y+L production team produced, shot, edited, and delivered a series of mini-documentaries and interviews telling the stories of creators who are breaking new ground. Then, we developed, designed, and built an online platform – Bombay’s Japan homepage – as the medium through which these stories can be explored.
The website features product information, cocktail-making tips, and articles by the creators, creating an online space that both provides entertainment, education, and a deeper understanding of the brand. Alongside the stories we utilized global assets to fill out the site and bring a sense of unity between the brand’s Japan wing and its global presence. The website also received a CSS Design Awards Honorable Mention for Best UI, Best UX, Best Innovation.
